Valentine’s Day During Lockdown

We all know that February is the month of love, lovers and celebrating Valentine’s Day, but how do you make it special during lockdown? Just because we are in lockdown does not have to mean that the romance is dead.

Make time for each other!

This one is rather easy if you are quarantining together, you see each other everyday. Don’t let it be just another evening – put your phone away and turn all the distractions off. Focus on your other half. But if you are spending this Valentine’s day apart, do the opposite because the one thing that has come out of last year is we all learnt how to use Zoom and Facetime! Set a time and it’s a date!

Ambience is everything!

Seeing the same 4 walls everyday must be starting to drive all of us a bit up the wall, but it only takes a few minutes to light a candle or fluff the pillows up.

Do not forget a card and a present!

By no means do we encourage going out shopping, because we are sure your other half will understand it is not essential, but you can easily order something online, hopefully supporting your small local business, and have it delivered, either to you or straight to your other half as a welcome surprise.

Shake it up a bit!

Maybe you would normally opt for a dinner in front of the telly, and with not much happening at the moment it seems like a reasonable option but Valentine’s day is a good chance to step outside the autonomy of the lockdown and try something new! Whether your partner misses yoga classes and wants you to try it, or you have an old game of scrabble collecting dust somewhere on the shelf, just give it a go.

There are plenty of fun games to play with your partner that would end up in giggles, and if you struggle you can always ask Google for help with your questions.

Nature is not cancelled!

There are so many benefits to going outdoors for a walk, from boosting your energy and immune system to improving your creativity. Most importantly it gives you a chance for change of scenery and it is absolutely safe as long as you keep your distance. So why not take a stroll with your other half and enjoy the wintery sunshine. Just wrap yourself in a nice cozy scarf and you good to go!

Take Care of Yourself

We all need to admit to ourselves that things are a lot different to what they looked like this time last year, and it has been a big adjustment which definitely calls for some self care. Whether this means indulging in some chocolate, or running yourself a bubble bath, we all deserve it and Valentine’s day is a good time to show appreciation to not just your other half but also yourself.
